Hey, thought we'd just share this little adventure and some pictures!

(Part 2 of the adventure here )

(Team 3's arrival here )

After a few hours of searching the wilds, Root found a few horses to bring back to the hub. Since horses don't seem to spawn in the main world, Merv came up with the idea to move some horses to the main world through the wilds fortress end portal. However figuring out how to do this practically was a MASSIVE work load!  Eventually we (Merv, Ras, Ray, Red, Moon and Sun (hope I'm not forgetting anyone)) got it to work! Here's what we did,

1. We made a plan how to send the horses through the wild fortress's end portal - to end.
2. Then from the end's spawning spot, to the main hub portal - to main world.

First we prepped all the portals, fired them up and basically tried to figure out how to do things practically.

The drop hole needed water to reduce the fall impact.

3V6iy.jpg

Then we fixed transport roads, like a new tunnel at the end, a VERY long road over the ocean in the wild, etc.

We did a test with a wilds cow first. We pushed it down the hole and after a couple of successful teleports and transports all the way to the main world it is now alive and well, breeding with main world cows at the public cow pen!

Ater that we managed to bring a couple of horses through too.
Trust me - IT WASN'T EASY!
Leads breaking, horses falling off walkways into the water, disappearing etc - horrible!
But eventually they made it through and are now standing safely, with good health at the public stable in the main world!

It was a great 60G adventure, great fun and an awesome team work! :)

And yey -  everyone can now breed their own horse in the main world!   :D
Just check out the public stable west of hub!

Here are some good breeding tips from Merv! : http://tinyurl.com/oye5p2y

/Cheers from Root, Merv, Ras, Ray, Red, Moon and Sun!

A couple of tips on getting your own horse at the hub:

Bring 2 golden carrots to breed adults

Get a leash from the chest or make your own (spider silk and slime) to leash the foal when it's bred

Feed the foal bread to make it grow so you can tame it

Feed it bread or golden apples to increase the chance you'll tame it quick.

Get a saddle and enjoy!

Donations of golden carrots and slime for leashes are welcome. If you're going out in the wild blue yonder with a horse, bring a few leashes as they tend to break and get lost easily.

PS: there are also horses in the Wilds to breed if you want one for faster travel. If anyone finds a donkey, please let everyone online know and get an escort to help you get it to the hub. Creepers killed 2 of the original 5 horses Rootbrew found!

Wonderful stuff, I was a mere observer of some of the proceedings, it was great teamwork!

I fear the difficulty in getting those rare saddles may be a great limiting factor, anyone with a butcher villager prepared to let me follow it around for a few days?  ;)

It could even be that those Swedes give us saddle crafting back again, who knows....

Well done. I always thought that you couldn't send anything through the portals but the end must be different :)

Tim I would love a saddle, trade? The only thing I have in quantity that's worth anything is redstone or coal, you want?

WW - Ray experimented early on in the proceedings and had a rail track going through portals, sent a villager through, then Sun got stuck in a cart and the server crashed... all very mad to watch!

Oh, also! Can we keep the portal structures up for the month? That way we can all go to the wilds and try to find our own horsies/donkeys of varying colors? I know I won't have time to explore until this weekend and it'd be wonderful if all the stuff was still in place.

That moment right there - I stopped breathing, in fear of the wrath of Ray! I swear, the time literally stood still! (Familiar feeling from when the Wither got loose at central hub)  Stupid carts!@ Beware!

Thank you all - yess it was awesomely fun!!

But hey - this adventure isn't quite over yet!

Like Iry points out - there are horses with other patterns and colors that needs to be brought to the main hub.

Time for a team 2 to kick in?

And on a side note, "good-to-know" breeding tip; horses in leads can still "do it" so no need to let them loose to get a foal. Makes things a lot easier!

*Giggle*

I have been Googling and I can't find a straight answer: Can donkeys/mules run as fast/jump as high as horses? It is theorized that a horse *can* jump as far as 12 blocks and run faster than a minecart. What I wonder is if donkeys/mules *can* also possibly reach these plateaus, or if they are innately less-than a horse.

Also for Forebrow for finding and transporting the horses in the wild!
