What's your favorite music? If it's a band, share the band! Links are welcome & encouraged.

My favorite band is Imagine Dragons or Coldplay. Really just any Alternative but these 2 are my favorite. My fav. song right now is Round & Round by Imagine Dragons.

A quick check list in no manner of order

  • The Stranglers
  • The Who
  • Led Zeppelin
  • The Black Keys
  • Arctic Monkeys
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Elton John
  • Stevie Wonder
  • Junior Kimbrough
  • Muddy Waters
  • Jack White
  • Foo Fighters
  • Nirvana
  • Ray Lamontagne
  • Seasick Steve

I play a little guitar here and there, listening to a lot of early blues and folk musicians for bits to play. Anything with a twang.

At the moment I have an odd fixation with Tiny Dancer by Elton John, possibly because of one of my favorite scenes in film. (miss the cheesey, "you are home.")

My musical tastes are all over the charts, but heavily influenced by metal, and heavily influenced by the 70's and 80's.  Of course, I like lots of 'one of' songs from lots of bands along the way, but I don't want my list to get too out of hand.  The following bands have released album(s) that I loved 90% of the songs on one album or I would buy their greatest hits:

Metallica (JFA and earlier)

Megadeath

Slayer

The Cure

Guns N Roses

ABBA

Seal

Suicidal Tendencies

The Cult

Cinderella

Def Leppard

Bon Jovi

Motley Crue

Blue Rodeo

Northern Pikes

Billy Talent

Green Day

Fleetwood Mac

Aerosmith

There are a lot of greats listed above. I like a lot of those but I will just include the ones who I really love. I like artists who inspire me and who are really incredible musically. I'm a singer and a mediochre musician, so I have a lot of female vocalists on the list! Don't diss the divas ;)

From above:

Queen
Johnny Cash
Radiohead
Coldplay

The girls:

Adele
Sarah McLachlan
Imogen Heap
Norah Jones
Whitney Houston
Janis Joplin
Billie Holiday
Eva Cassidy (should be top of the list)
Amy Lee (Evanescence)

Now my all time favourites:
Muse
Elbow (walked down the aisle to an Elbow track)
Dave Matthews Band

Those three are the solid three I can always listen to and I would say are my "favourite" bands.

There are so many more and it changes all the time. But this is it at the moment.

Oh, can't even begin to go into classical! Elgar, Rachmaninov, Bach, Faure.... So many composers and pieces I love. One of my favourites at the moment is Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure. Beautiful choral piece. I love some opera as well, some of the arias are incredible. Vissi d'arte from Tosca is a current fav.

Marko, Muse is probably the limit of that sort of music for me. But i really love them, they are very talented musicians and I always like a brilliant pianist :)

Also, I forgot to add David Bowie to my list. Definitely one of my top artists. Been listening to a lot of Glenn Miller as well.

I love many of the ones already mentioned here! Lou Reed, Bowie, Cocker, many of the ones on Woodstock, The Who ofc, Yes, Hendrix, Joplin, Queen, Suzanne Vega, so so many!

I love music :) I used to sing in a choir and I keep a blog where I almost always include a song in each post.

I have a page I was making for a friend/teacher here. (The song on the top is there because the singer is a friend's daughter)

And some songs I translated from Spanish to English here. (Those are mostly things I listened to in my teens)

And here are some links to some artists I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Oh Heartland, Up Yours! by Owen Pallett, sufjan stevens - decaturJose Gonzalez - Down The Hillside, Cat Stevens - Longer Boats Cinematic Orchestra - To build a homeChilly Gonzales - "Nero's Nocturne" (excuse the composer's modesty…)

And this two I'm sure every British knows (and loves): Kate Bush, The Morning Fog  (It's blocked for my country :/ I hope you can see it from yours)

Jethro Tull - Songs from the wood   (it's hard to pick just one song)

These are italian: Angelo branduardi - La serie dei numeri, Fabrizio de André - Volta la carta

These two you wont know unless you're Latin-American or Spanish: Miguel Bosé - Aire Soy (also from my teens and my 8 year old's fave)

Natalia Lafourcade - Un lugar para renacer.

I guess I better stop there :P

Oh wait, this one really needs to be in a minecraft music disk.

For a desert island three it would have to be Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Black Keys on account of how much they have all produced and I like everything bar maybe a handful of songs. I'm pretty sure I'd try and sneak a copy of Bohemian Rhapsody and Tiny Dancer in there somewhere just for sing a long value.

Ok, here are a few links to what I am listening to most at the moment.

Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure

Vissi d'arte from Tosca, by Puccini

Oh, Had I A Golden Thread by Eva Cassidy (One of my favourite tracks of hers.. what a voice!)

Piece of My Heart by Janis Joplin (again, incredible voice, this is my favourite song of hers)

Mr Bojangles by Nina Simone

Blue Would Still Be Blue by The Guillemots (Great song about how nothing changes when you are with someone but things just get a bit easier)

One Day Like This by Elbow (I walked down the aisle to the instrumental of this)

Knights of Cydonia by Muse (The video of this is a short film, spoof western sci-fi type thing)

Just Give Me A Reason by Pink (feat. Nate Russ from FUN.)

That's probably all for now.. it's just a snippet of what is currently on my phone at the moment! (It changes a lot). But I can't leave without the best of all..

If anyone has not heard of Flight of the Conchords I'd suggest you check them out..

This is the Hiphopapotamus vs. the Rhymenocerous.and their Tribute to Bowie
