This one is my favorite. it's very tiny
Now only if there was a way to break and place blocks... You could have a fully automatic tree-growing charcoal farm!
You could use a wither to break the trees! (Kidding, of course.)

heh, I considered building something almost exactly like that back in SG5, but then I realized because of my big mountain moving project I'd have a ton of lava lakes right at my home base, so I said screw it and just always kept a few chestfuls of lava buckets

Not so much a fan of lava myself. What bugs me is that it uses the whole thing up at start, and then continues dissipating whether the thing is cooking or not. This one is my favorite. it's very tiny

True, but when you have a nearly unlimited supply of lava like I did you don't care all that much
I had several of those "mini lava oceans" under my mountain, easily thousand(s) lava blocks to scoop up in each of them.

also if you have a doublechest full of material feeding the furnace then it just keeps cooking
yeah, that's how my design was. It was small (didn't need anything too large) but it was basically just 4 furnaces with doublechests of lava buckets that would feed into it, with an input/output for mats being smelted. Really basic design.. but it got the job done, I seldom needed any large-scale smelting anyway.

Lol, with what goes into my builds I'm always needing large scale smelting. This makes things so much eaiser, and I'm not having to sit there tending to it, I can just bump a bunch of materials and fuel into it and bugger off to do something else while it cooks ... Mojang does get things right sometimes
