I've started work on my main base. My plan is to have a "medieval-industrial" kind of thing, with engines and planes and steamboats and things.

Right now, I'm working on a "docks" area, which includes a tiered path up a mountain (with shops and buildings inside the walls). I'm trying to use designs that fit more naturally with the terrain, rather than level it all off (which is what I've done in the past).

Right now, I've pretty much completed the first "tier" (out of 3) and have laid bones and walls for the other two. The first tier has a tavern and a stable. I've also added the docks section, a crane, and a lighthouse. In addition, there's small farmhouse/homestead in the nearby plains.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks! Couple days ago, yeah. Nice to have most of the renewable resources you need close by :)

And you're one to talk -- your base is coming along very quickly as well! ;)

Cripes.

Between you and Claudia and a couple of others, I'm beginning to think I should just pack it in and rent a small hovel from someone who knows what they are doing, offering terraforming and block-gathering labor in exchange for the opportunity to look out at that sort of view each time I log on instead.

Time for an update! I've finished the next two tiers of the docks, with their respective establishments, and added a large house on top of the mountain (still have to work on the path, and shops/houses along the way). There's also a blacksmiths next to the homestead, and I'm planning to add a whole farming district in the area.

I haven't set up paths, but its a short trip! Go through the south portal, and head straight forward away from the portal until you're out of the extreme hills. There should be a crafting bench right as you come out into the forest. By now, you'll start seeing the edge of the lighthouse across the small ocean, if you have a high render distance. If not just keep making your way straight out from the portal and follow the shore. It'll curve around left, and there it is! If you do see the lighthouse, though, it's quicker just to sail straight towards it.

I highly recommend a boat! :D

One word of caution: you'll be passing though a very dark area with extreme hill formation, so wear good armor and just keep running. It's over fairly quickly, then you can start the boat. ;)

And thanks!

Also, I started work on the more wealthy area of my town. A church and clocktower to act as a central location:

A house:

I'm working on a big underground farm and iron farm, so that's pretty much halted progress for now.
