Hullo there!

I've recently started my first real project on the main map, and to ensure it all goes smoothly, I decided to make some concepts in creative mode.

As you might already know, I like to replicate dwarven cities such as Moria and the lot.

Lots and lots of stone, enormous halls, pillars, et cetera.

Here's a bunch of screens of the entrance gate that I made today.

Very nice Snate! LOL I was wondering what you've been up to lately on SG. You're works are undetectable on the dynmap. Flag me in chat next time and let me know where it is so I can take the mountain pass on my next Journey. I'm not afraid of what lurks in the deep places of the earth. ;)

My one eye is closed so I can keep an eye on myself. The other eye remains cracked open so I can keep an eye on you. For you are beautiful and someone must hold a space for you to shine and live in complete freedom when you will not see. What this means in literal context is this: Each of my two eyes are looking 'at you' and 'for you'. – Dustin Strong

I've probably forgotten to mention that this was made in creative mode in SP and that there's not actually anything yet in the server.

I'll start construction soon.

Anyway, it's marked with a sign right next to the rail between the Southwest and West Southwest stations.

I've started designing my storage room. Here's an album of pictures.

Its windows will probably face a large hall on one side, as a balcony or something, and the windows on the other side with either lead to the smelting room or to a room where diamonds and gold are piled up in storage blocks(as that looks fancy).

This was done in Creative MC and MCEdit.

It's most definitely not final; these designs are used for the rough layout and things like lighting will most likely be played around with until just right.

However, the hall shape and the tunnels will stick.

Update: Made some designs for the smelting room.

As usual, needlessly big and fancy.

Also, I just noticed that it´s not symmetrical, look in the third screenshot.....Need to fix that T_T

10/10 would get lost in.

Lookin' good.  Are you planning to add any colours or accents, or are you sticking with the various stone blocks all throughout?

I like stone texture for the 'dwarven' style of construction, but colors will be used sparingly. There'll be fancy rooms with gemstone decorations- as soon as I get a silk touch pickaxe it'll be a lot easier.

I'd absolutely love to have different stone colors as is upcoming in the next MC update; I've done things before using colored stones in modpacks, look here:

I might actually use such stone patterns on the hallways, and perhaps incorporate some quartz blocks as well.

It's stone slabs with a light source on top. Looks very nice but doesn't actually emit light past the slabs :/

Yeah, those new blocks that are coming in 1.8 will give you just enough colour while still keeping your theme.  Great work, it's going to look fantastic! :D
