It really is sad that this wonderful server wont be there anymore. I was looking for a cozy home when I got here and I found one! A huge THANKS to everyone who made that possible and I am happy I got here when I did. :)

All the rules we have are there to keep the game as fair to everyone as possible. So its mostly common sense.

In the wilds you can go crazy, strip hole mineshafts, temples whatever you find. Just always try to treat others like you'd wanna be treated. So if you mine close to a player's building and you happen to dig into their stripmine, just turn around and dig another way. Ofc you can always ask if you can use their tunnels to go further and few would deny that, but its all a question of respect and polite cooperation.

 

As for replanting crops - why not? Give the next player to come across the village the chance to harvest something. Its not a "rule" but it can be the nice thing to do. You never know when a single carrot saves someone from starving. ;)

Pah! There wouldn't even be biology or chemistry without physixxes! ;)

 

Kazooki, at the end of the day you'll want something that gets food on the table. So I'd say talk to every person you can find in both of those fields, ask them how the chances of employment are, whats needed, where the main institutes are located and what to expect as salary etc. Then go for what sounds most desirable to you. ;)

I like the idea of a central wilds and nether portal. And also a longer reset intervall of both, like 3 months or just on request when its really starting to look like a swiss cheese. ;)

Two or three resets back the dynmap would only show what we actually explored. I don't know if that was intended, but I must say I loved to have more terra incognita and I'd suggest we always have it that way! Yea yea I know I could just *not* look on the map... but you know how it is.

 

If we only have said central portals we probably need the transport portal system as well. I still like the rails, but I'm not living on the outskirts of the map, and I could imagine its very annoying to haul everything from central to the outmost corners.

 

I agree portals may promote some more sponateous visits around the world. Its a lot more fun to visit someone while they are online and due to all those different timezones there usually isnt much overlapping playtime to "waste" for travelling.

If nothing else, the joined project of building little portalhouses and the novelty of having them (the portals) may rejuvinate the numbers of players again.

You sound just like the right fish for our little pond, so fingers crossed :)

 

What kind of things do you like to build on MC? Or are you more of the digging kind? Or even redstone with your engineering background?

Because MC is fueled by your own creativity and not by some predesigned gamestrategy/-path for a certain target group. The rewards you get in MC are your own without the stale aftertaste that everyone else is bound to experience exactly the same thing sooner or later. Every build is unique, every diamond is found in another tunnel or cave, every creeper behind your bedroom door has personal reasons... well you get what I mean ;)

Here a little update for those interested :)

 

I've taken on the task to make the city as mobproof as possible. While I will not light up any roofs I started to make a torchgrid of 5x5 whereever a torch can be placed. If you find one too close to your house, feel free to remove it, but please see to that you still have the area lit up enough.

 

As Schem explained to me, mobs will not spawn at a light level of 8+.

You can track the artificial light with your debug screen (F3) looking at the number for "bl:" (thats nearly at the bottom on the left side) that number will be the light level at your head, so if it shows 7 and you have torches on the ground, at your feet the light level will be 8 (so enough).

 

I will continue with this very ocd friendly torch grid for now and then later get back to add "real" lamps or hedge lights, replacing some torches. If anyone feels the urge to join me in counting to 5, every help will be highly appreciated. I started in the NE corner, so I'd only ask that you place new torches according to that grid, not randomly starting another one ;)

Everyone should take the time and do the multicache tour on the royal grounds! Its a splendid way to see all the wonders of the garden and later the wonderful castle itself. :D

And the map in the visitor center is just soooo sexy! ^^

 

Good job on those chests Ros! (though I couldnt find the bonus one tbh ;) - another time probably!)

Haha Captain! Was thinking of that one as well ;)

 

I don't remember a certain story actually changing my life, but over the years many little details from books have always sparked my imagination and I am very thankful for that!

 

But a book indirectly changed a lot for me...

Once I was standing in front of a bookcase in a store and another woman stood beside me. We got into talking, I recommended to her the 1st part of a series I was reading that time and in the store to by the next part for (we both were into fantasy novels back then) and we ended up having tea, spending the rest of our lunchbreak together. She is a friend of mine ever since. But more to that! We discovered that we were both also into fantasy roleplaying games and she invited me to a nice evening mastered by my beloved boyfriend I am still together with to the day! ;)
