gotkaya's application

13 August 2014 - 12:40 PM

My In Game Name: gotkaya (you're welcome to call me by my real name chad or in-game name gotkaya or but most the time people like to go by kaya)  -  A little trivia: Kaya in Tagalog (Filipino) means ability so the name gotkaya was meant (in some pretty rough translation) to be "I've got this" denoting willingness and ability to get'r dun!  Who doesn't love a good redneck phrase in any language....  I lived in the Philippines for a few years so I know my way around the language a bit but anyone that's Filipino will know I probably totally stretched and butchered that for my own liking.

My Age: 31... that might sound old to some people but I crushed Kings Peak (7th tallest peak in the US) 5 days ago, so I'm pretty comfortable.

My Home: Utah

Why Do I Want To Join: I've been super busy with everything else but sitting on my butt for the last few months and I'm way excited to relax and find a good server again.  I started by checking into where schematix has landed because I knew he wasn't about the head back to the last vanilla server we played on, and this is where I found him.  I saw he mentioned me in his application a few months back, but I haven't actually told him I'm posting an application nor does he know that I know he's been hiding here, so we'll see how long it takes him to see this.   I know he's been busy lately, so I'm guessing I could sneak by for at least a few days.

Anyway, onto the other reason I would love to join... So I sat down a few nights ago and read through all the tabbed pages on the website as well as some of the more interesting pinned posts and was impressed with how the server's setup with the worlds and organization of the main server map as well as the great rules (the biggest indicator of "will I actually enjoy myself on a server or not").  Needless to say I came to the conclusion that I'd fit in (you'll have to decide for yourself or course) because there's gotta be a lot of like minded people on the server if they got past your application process and survived limbo.  Each of which I don't mind trudging through.  Like I mentioned it's been a while since I've minecraft'd and tbh limbo right now sounds right up my ally for a way to get a fresh, fun and relaxing start/introduction into a game that's changed so much since I've played it..   Not to mention the months of Aug and Sept are always extremely busy for me for reason's I probably shouldn't go into for fear of schematix's pure and sensitive vegan lifestyle my give me a big ol' fat thumbs down.  (Don't worry bro, I'll send you a steak or two when I get home).

My Previous Minecraft Experience:  Because I'm sitting in an airport with a 4 hour layover at the moment I was seriously planning on compiling a list of all the things I can remember ever building/doing in minecraft (I would have to check into all the screenshots/videos I've ever kept around of course, because yes... I'm that old and my mind's not all it's cracked up to be), but the I got distracted with kicking a soccer ball around with two kids that had one on hand.  Surprised to say nobody ever complained about us kicking it around.   People are awesome sports sometimes!   So as far as experience, I'll just leave it at "been there done that, can't wait to see what's new to vanilla since around March of 2014"

My Background: Well what intrigued me most about the suggestions for this section of the application was the "What terrifies you" & "Tell us a funny story".  So i'll start with what terrifies me the most:  My wife or kids getting seriously hurt in an accident or something.  TBH that actually says a lot about me right there.  I'm a total family man.  It was even hard just typing that out.  BRB, gotta go hug my family through my iPhone...  Well now for a funny story.  So 15-16 years ago, in 10th grade, we're sitting through some sort of 2 day class on the anatomy of males/females or something similar to that... I only remember so much because it's long since been a suppressed memory for me. But, as we sit there and listened to the guest speaker in a classroom full of close to 40 ppl,  I just remember it was sooo quite because most of us were like... this is... very... embarrassing to learn about with all these other people around.  I had to pee so bad, and if anyone is at all like me the pressure on the bladder transposes to other important areas that are in definite need of control most of the time.  Well it was way more than I could handle and a little gaseous something something squeaked out.   There wasn't a single person in the room that didn't turn and look at me.   The only person close to me was this cute little girl sitting in front of me and out of pure embarrassment I tried to pin it on her by pointing.  That only made things worse for me because my face (beat red) had already told the whole story.   Needless to say I survived the day, and actually learned something about my own anatomy.

Glad to be here, hope to have fun with you all here on the forums.
