How does SG handle...

27 August 2014 - 07:14 AM

I've been looking over the public forums searching for some answers to the questions I have.

If it's anything like looking for my glasses, which are always on top of my head, it'll be somewhere very obvious and I've missed it - if it's the case, I apologize!

I'm wondering - how does SG handle MC updates?

I've been on servers that reset alternative maps but not the main map, that have never reset a map ever but simply regen unused areas to produce the new features or that reset the entire map every single major update.

With the upcoming 1.8 update, I'm curious what happens (please show me where I may have missed this if I did!!)  Thanks (:

Cellybell

In Game Name: Cellybell

Real Name/Preferred Name: At this point, I have grown quite accustomed to being called Celly - so much so that when my now-boyfriend and I met for the first time in real life, he called me Celly by habit once and I didn't even think about it!  My real name is Renee and I like that too - so I usually leave it up to the person and their preference. I prefer to call some of my online friends by their real names and some of them by their online names. I think it depends on how their online name suits their personality.

Age: 28!

Previous Minecraft experience:   The first time I ever played minecraft was on a Creative server with a bunch of friends. I was quickly made an operator (mini admin) to help combat the griefing and problems arising on the server. When I wasn't playing babysitter, I was making mazes – I designed maze after maze after maze. I set up warps to each of my mazes and offered rewards for completing them. Eventually, I set up a PvP survival server for him and designed a gorgeous (yet small and functional) spawn with admin shop and black market shop. I set up all the plugins for the economy. Sometime after, the server closed due to the owner’s personal reasons and I found myself wanting to try something a little different.

So, I gave single player survival a try. I'd never had to figure out single player before so it was an all new and exciting (and terrifying) experience for me.  Zombies killed me, creepers destroyed my homes, endermen stole my blocks and skeletons shot me off my roof. It was a rough life! I got adjusted, improved my knowledge and felt like it was time for a challenge. Found my way to the end, killed the dragon and that was it – I was ready for a multiplayer survival server.

I ended up finding myself joining an 18+ white list survival server, went through the trial period with no issue, was quickly recruited by a team where I helped build an amusement park with them. Which, to no one’s surprise, I built another maze! This time in survival mode! Soon after, I was sucked into the Factions server they had associated with them.  It was new and challenging and again, absolutely terrifying! Now, instead of just having to deal with skeletons shooting me off my tree, people hunted me too!  Soon, the server was making a big transition – I had been working with one of the admins about helping start up a hunger games server.

After a bit of time, real life happened quite rapidly (homeless, moving, job, etc) and I had to take a hiatus from minecraft.  Once that was all figured out and dealt with, I ended up getting pregnant and just poked in from time to time but still staying around. The dust has settled in the past year and I have been able to play again and came back to the same Factions server. I manage my time between leading up a lovely Faction with some amazing people in it and being upper-staff on there as well.

Your background:  First! Some quick fire factoids:  I LOVE to read. I’ve read my way through life. Troubles? Read. In a good mood? Read. Rainy day? Read. Sunny day? Read with sunglasses on. Cold outside? Read by the heater. Hot outside? Read under the trees. I hardly ever watch TV and if I do, it’s on Netflix or my friend’s HBOGo account. I have a 1 year old son (today is his birthday! August 18th!) named Sylar (and, uhm, yes, that is after the super-powered serial killer named Sylar from Heroes). I once fell asleep while eating and face-planted in a plate of spaghetti like you’d see in the movies. I write my smiley backwards (: I've tried to correct the habit but I have done it for almost 18 years now and just feels normal to do it. I hated the AOL smileys when we first got AOL waaaaay back in the day so I would purposefully turn them the other way so they wouldn't convert. It tends to bug people!

I love any kind of puzzle – anything that challenges me to think in a new way or look at something from a different perspective. It is likely why I love making mazes so much. I love jigsaw puzzles and math/logical problems, patterns, Rubik’s cubes, ciphers, sudoku, etc.  Anything except crossword puzzles xD

What else? Well, hm. I’m not one of those “omg, gamergirl lol” – though I do play video games. I can’t remember a time in my life where I didn’t have something that I at least poked around on.  From Prince of Persia (1989 version) to Mario Bros to  Sims/Sim2/Sims3 to any of the Zelda games (Wind Waker actually being my favorite, don’t hurt me!) to World of Warcraft and League of Legends. I don’t discriminate when it comes to variety and play styles, though I do prefer PC.

I know I mentioned that I’ve grown accustomed to the name Celly, and also mentioned other games I’ve played. I think it’d be wise to mention my World of Warcraft history since it’s a pretty significant chunk of time/life spent.   My first Hunter was named Celoria (originally with an Italian pronunciation of Cheloria). I leveled up to max level and was recruited by a low-end raiding guild at the end of the first expansion pack. My first day in vent with the guild was very confusing. Every kept calling me Cel (like Sell) and I assumed they were talking to someone else. One of the officers messaged me in game asking if I was in vent, when I spoke up and told them how it was supposed to be, we all had a bit of a chuckle and they continued to call me Cel anyway!  Eventually, I progressed through the guilds to bigger/better guilds capable of clearing raids faster/easier. I eventually found myself with many alts  (Paladin named Celley, Priest named Celbell, Shaman named Cellybell, Rogue named Celshadows, and so on.) and playing with one of the best guilds in North America.  Soon after, the irl that I mentioned before happened – and I quickly dropped down to casual level. I still hopped on, cleared dungeons and quested, but not the hardcore raiding like I had before.

The thing I miss the most about World of Warcraft is having a close-knit community within my 30ish player guild. I could hop on and chat with them, joke around, ask for help from time to time. We could quest together, break off into groups or do our own things. At raid nights, we all joined together to work as a team to kill some pixels.

Right now, I love my Factions server. I love being staff on there and helping out, and I love leading my faction – but sometimes I need to step back and take a breather. With Factions, it’s hard to be nice. You run a great risk inviting people and trusting anyone. It can be very stressful!  So, I’d like to get a 2 for 1 deal. I’d love to find somewhere I can play survival while also having that close-knit community feeling I had on WoW. I may never build with someone else, but if I needed the help or someone else needed some, I would love to be able to reach out and do just that.

And since I keep seeing the topic of tea vs. coffee coming up… Tea is good but I have to be picky. My usual go to is a homemade herbal/wildflower tea. I have a weird sensitivity/intolerance that makes me get sick from a lot of stuff. Tea is a big one, so is coffee. While I like coffee, I don’t love coffee. When I do drink it, I cold brew my coffee, which makes it significantly less bitter and much creamier without even needing to add anything to it.

So, uhm… now that I’ve written a legit essay about me. Is there anything you’d all like to know?  Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you (:
