#40596 Wilds Nether & End

Posted by GreenishTroll on 26 October 2015 - 01:20 PM

I think periodic resets of the WIlds and the Nether are essential for resource gathering.  The frequency depends on how quickly things get depleted, such as glowstone in the nether.

As for grinders and farms making things too easy- we have had this debate a number of times with Ray.  I've never understood the objectiion.  I always thought it was a personal decision. If you think it makes things to easy, don't use them.  SImple.  I've never figured out why it mattered to anyone if others were making the game too easy for themselves.

#36823 Current Rail System to do list

Posted by GreenishTroll on 20 December 2014 - 09:03 PM

I'm done with lighting and supports on the ENE-FNE line.  I think that completes all the major work remaining on the rail system.  Anything else is minor.
Some pics of the ENE FNE line work.

#35566 different language game (not really a game) thingy

Posted by GreenishTroll on 29 October 2014 - 05:51 AM

Due to the fact I avoid cameras like the black death I have gathered some signs from the New Zealand Sign Language website.\\

I thought this one said "my breasts are just the right size, how about yours?"

#35028 Ender grinder

I congratulate anyone who has ever built an End grinder.  Personally the idea of a construction project over the abyss scares the **** out of me, even worse than building over lava.

I had no idea trolls are so organized! ^^

I subscribe to Better Housekeeping for Trolls magazine.  All kinds of good ideas there for keeping your cave tidy.  Like - you know those thumbs and fingers you always have lying around after a big meal that no one has any room left to eat?  You can freeze those in separately wrapped containers and warm them up quickly for late nite snacks.  They are really yummy with a little chili sauce.

#34788 Ender grinder

Posted by GreenishTroll on 02 October 2014 - 04:35 PM

The September Enderman Grinder was the best I've ever seen on 60G.  Hats off to the builder - was that Schematix?  It was the fastest we've had IMO, with no incidential damage from the dark guys.  There was essentially no waiting, there was always a few to whack.  I didn't time it but getting to level 30 couldn't have taken more than a minute or so.

Let's do another one of those!

#30989 Guide to using the railways

Posted by GreenishTroll on 08 May 2014 - 02:41 PM

I made my first youtube video to explain how the railway stations work, covering how carts are collected and placed, and how the switching buttons work.  I noticed carts were often not waiting at the stations as they should be, and I've seen questions asking if a player should jump out of the cart before reaching the cactus.  Hopefully this will help sixty gig users make the most of the automated cart handling systems we are putting in place.

(video correction: I say that player ridden chest carts will bypass the chestcart collection system - I meant to say of course player ridden mine carts).

Watch the video and let me know what you think.  BTW: I don't know how make the embed tag work here - if someone can tell me how I can embed it.  Otherwise you just have to follow the link below.

#29805 End Grinders

Posted by GreenishTroll on 22 March 2014 - 07:02 AM

The value of an enderman grinder...

I've been working on the NE station, which has all four corners underwater.  The water removal has put a heavy burden on shovels.  I use them to collect sand for the glass needed to enclose the space and to remove the gravel I drop i to displace the water.  Without the Endie grinder the laborious task would be so much harder, and take so much longer.  I go through 4 high eft shovels in a  "day's" work.  I also use up my silk pick fixing all my goofs in the glass.  I am constantly repairing my tools.

Thank god for the Enderman Grinder!!!!!!

#29080 End Grinders

Posted by GreenishTroll on 06 March 2014 - 04:05 PM

A good end grinder can mitigate the disaster of a death in lava. If everything is so hard to get and maintain, it takes a lot of the fun out of the game. Should any player think that an end grinder is too easy or a cheat, then they are welcomed to avoid using it; just because some players are purists, doesnt mean that very many of us are. This is a big issue to some us that affects the playability of Minecraft. Like GT, I have been unable to find Ray's rationale against a permanent end grinder in the forums. Would some kind person please clarify?

Although I'm in favor of keeping an end grinder, I don't think you can use the argument "just don't use it" in a multiplayer game.  It still affects the player, whether they use it or not.  Imagine two players want a level 30 enchanted pick.  Player A believes the end grinder should not be used, while Player B has no issue with the grinder and uses it.  Player A has to put forth a lot more effort than Player B to achieve the same results, and Player A's accomplishments are greatly lessened in the eyes of others who may not know he didn't use the end grinder.

Red,, your point would only apply to an outright ban on the end grinder.  That is not the case here.  We are allowed to have it. So why rebuild it each month?  The only arguments for that I can think are things like  1) exempting the End from the monthly reset is more difficult for Ray or 2) the option for 1 or more players to kill the dragon each month is more important.  Can anyone speculate on any other good reasons for the End to be reset each month?

#28602 SG6 Rail Status 2

Posted by GreenishTroll on 23 February 2014 - 09:37 AM

SSW > FSW now functional.  Rails, lighting and mob proofing are complete, I am just finishing the supports.  If anyone want to use it for rail travel it is working, just don't run down any workers you encounter on the line.
