Here is the steampunk texture pack I was talking about for those who wanted to check it out.

Squid trap you can use
18 July 2011 - 11:58 AM
I made a squid trap if anyone needs ink sacs. Squid are more numerous now but it is still a pain to swim and try not to drown, so if anyone wants an easy way to collect sacs, go hang out in my trap for a while. I made it a cactus farm also so you have something to do while waiting for squid to fall in. It has grass and occasionally animals spawn as well. At first I had the netherrack lit but I kept losing ink sacs and decided to snuff them out. The squid will sometimes get stuck on top of a block but it isn't a big deal to run over and kill them. It isn't fully automated but it is easier than swimming around trying to kill squid. Of course swimming around will be faster if you come across many squid but this is an easy, lazy way to collect a few sacs. You are welcome to use it if you want. It is in a room underneath the pentagram. There is a small building next to the platform that leads down to the squid room.
Spider Trap
17 July 2011 - 03:08 PM
I am helping soggy make a spider trap and need to show him some pictures so I will post them here. This is how I made an effective spider killer. I will take more pictures later but here are the first few. I put glass in the side walls so I could see what I did for future reference. basically, I took a regular mob trap and expanded it a bit and added lava knives. Every now and then the string gets stuck in the glass or gets burned up but there doesn't seem to be a sure fire spider trap and this was the best I could come up with. It works 95% of the time.
Don't wanna update yet
30 June 2011 - 11:16 AM
I am hoping we haven't updated the server yet. There seem to be many bugs, as usual. Some people are reporting that chests and other items have vanished. If whole chests full of stuff can vanish I am thinking we should hold off updating.
Edit: Also, apparently pistons are buggy and in some cases are making maps unbootable. They cause a crash and then the map can no longer boot at all. It seems to happen when someone makes the movable blocks run across or in to the piston or redstone. Once we update we need to make sure we have extra map saves stored someplace. A player may create a device and not use it for a long time, then once it is used, it could crash the map and corrupt it.

Portal coords
27 June 2011 - 01:37 PM
We should list the portal coordinates so someone can check the thread if they get stuck. Ery asked what the Wilderness coords were by Thor and I were up getting a snack and didn't see her texts until after she logged out. That got me to thinking that perhaps we should list them someplace.
Wildlands-- approximately 327 x -806
That is not exact, I wrote it down while standing nearby but it'll get you there.
Make sure to go to negative 806, not 806
