In Topic: Gamer Discrimination.

I think the objections that people have towards "gaming" is that it's seen as an antisocial past time. You're completely absorbed in whatever game you happen to be playing and aren't able to easily interact with anyone around you. I know from many years experience that one can spend massive amounts of time gaming without even thinking about taking a break, or even talking to someone.
It's not to say video games are a bad thing, but to do nothing other than playing video games without having some other interests that involve some sort of socialising perhaps isn't the best thing to do, especially children who need to learn to interact with people. I know at this stage in my life that I wish I'd spent less time playing video games and more time doing other "constructive" things; but not massively so, just perhaps a few more hours a week.
As for the discrimation, I can't say I've ever really told people about it, other than my closest friends, so haven't had people at work mock me; although I do smile when I hear my sister complaining that my nephew does nothing other than play video games in his free time. I know why she worries, but you can't force people to have particular interests, you can expose them to different things and maybe they'll like them.
