Some wee pics from first leg of ground fish survey. This first one is a lesser weever fish, had me terrified of sticking my hands into the large piles of fish for sorting! If you manage to get pierced by one of its barbs on gills or in front of dorsal fin you run the risk of anything from a very painful swollen arm to death!
This wee guy is a grey gurnard, not a red gurnard as the colour may hint at! They are a curious wee fish that feels armoured all over apart from ventrally. Not poisonous but they have barbs that can hurt if you lift them the wrong way.
Last but not least, the ever so cute sea mouse!
