Morf's Build Projects!

05 August 2014 - 06:20 PM

Hello people of Sixty Gig! Just thought that since I have been here a couple months, it is due time that I show you some of the projects I have been working on lately. For the most part, nothing is completed; I have a lot of work to do and a long way to go. The overall goal of my project is to create one giant build that services all of my minecraft needs, and eventually help out other people as well. I intend to build a giant underwater sphere, and have all of my farming, resources, and xp farms within it. It is a hefty task, but I have since completed several of the key components. Here is my work up to this point.

Good Music/Favorite Songs

02 June 2014 - 03:06 PM

Hey everyone, Morf here!

Just wanted to make a forum post and get to know the people out their that play on this awesome server. Also I would like to get some cool new music for my Itunes library and am open to suggestions for some songs I could add. I pretty much like all genres of music, and the things I enjoy listening to range from classical all the way to heavy metal. Lately I have been listening to a lot of chillstep and some music that I just generally found to sound good to me. In addition, maybe some of you guys out there can find some new songs that you enjoy. So to start off, I'm going to share three songs that I found recently and really enjoyed.

Three Songs I like:

1.) Song: Angels Among Demons  Artist: Instrumental Core     Genre: Dubstep     Link:

2.) Song: Nightcall     Artist: Kavinsky     Genre: Electronic     Link:

3.) Song: You Wouldn't Know Me     Artist: Vexare     Genre: Dubstep    Link:

Why I like these songs: I like these songs because the beat to them really attracted my attention. One thing that stands out about them to me, is that song 1 and 3 seem to incorporate a slight amount of classical music into the beat. Then the songs transition to a more upbeat and rapid pace that really gets the adrenaline flowing. As for song #2, I like that one because it sounds like something from the 80's, which of course it is, but just a remixed version.

End Note:

Alright, so I understand not everyone likes dubstep or electronic music, but that's why I'm asking for your input. I want to get to know you guys, and understand some of your viewpoints and music interests. You don't have to use any specific format for your post, nor is there a limit or minimum number of songs you can share. Just let me know what music interests you, and maybe give some details as to why you like that sort of music. Thanks for taking the time to read this ladies and gentleman, and I hope you all have an amazing day! :)

Morfelin's Application

25 May 2014 - 04:21 PM

- IGN: Morfelin

- Age: 19
- Location: Farmington, NM
-  Introduction and Why I want to join: Well, to start off, my name is Austin. I have been playing Minecraft for about 3 years more or less. And the game has always been really fun and entertaining since the day I started in my humble single-player worlds. I have been on a few servers and invested my time mainly in building medieval style structures. In fact, I am pretty much addicted to building things, and I like to express my creativity by making something new and vibrant to look at. As of lately I have tended to sway more towards a natural building style, and keeping to the contours of the land. I think there is a fine line between flattening to build, and using your creativity to enhance the landscape. So, in that way I feel my building technique tries to keep the original landscape while also incorporating a few human elements.

Recently a server that I have been playing on for about a year and a half has been going downhill. The community is leaving, and the game-play experience isn't worth it without someone else to share it with. So I decided to go on a search for a new server, however, this time I'm searching for a more mature group of people to play and interact with. This is for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I want to feel more accepted and at home in the server I play on primarily. I talked in game a lot on my previous server, but I never felt like anyone was mature enough to understand my point of view and where I was coming from. Also, I grew tired of childish trolling and verbal abuse that, while insulting, was ineffective and off topic and served no higher purpose.

Besides all that, I think it's best I give some reasons why I would like to join SixtyGig in the first place. Personally, I want to join in order to be a functioning part of a community full of common sense and logic. Based on what I have seen searching through the forums and reading stuff on the website, I feel that the player base on this server takes things more seriously and treats each other with respect. While also having good humor and allowing joking when the time is suited for it and appropriate. Another thing, is that I want to feel like I have earned something at the end of the day. The way this server is set up allows for the player to have to earn his/her way in and justify himself under scrutiny. I also think I can contribute some cool builds to the server and would like to make something people can admire and marvel at. If I make some friends in the process then all the better.

How I like to play the game: One thing I have noticed about myself when I start a new world or go into a server is that I have some underlying theme that guides me. Basically I will choose a way to play and set some standards for how to proceed from that point. One thing I was working on not to long ago was a survival island where I had to build all of my structures and farming outposts underground. Then, the only thing I allowed myself to do on the surface, was cut down trees and gather animals to move into my base. Also, if I chopped down a tree I would have to replant it, since another rule I set in place is that I cant leave the island from above the surface. Certain things like that have sorted out how I play the game when I'm left to my own devices. I define a way to play, and then I stick to that until it gets mundane or repetitive. However one common theme that has stood the test of time is that I always strive to improve what I do, and make things more convenient.

About me: As I mentioned before, my name is "Austin." I live in Farmington New Mexico, and have been living here for about 2 years. Lots of people ask me if that is part of Mexico, but in fact, it is one of the Fifty states in America. Why they named it "New Mexico" I do not know for sure, but I'm sure there is some logical explanation behind it. Or conversely, there could be some crazy event that influenced that name, but I guess it's all perspective.

I was born September 29th, 1994; and before I lived in New Mexico I was a resident of Colorado. Basically I lived there through my whole adolescence, and I have to say that I had some pretty good times.  I used to run track in high school, and I was also a member of the cross-country running team. So long distance running was something I was accustomed to at that time. Back in tenth grade my friend "Skylar" came over to my house for the day, and he brought his laptop. He showed me some cool new games he found, but one that stuck out to us was Minecraft. We downloaded the early version of the game and got to work.

At first we had no idea how to play and we had to Google how to craft almost everything. One of my best memories is where we both competed to see who could make the best mob grinder, and collect more resources. We were constantly battling to one up the other guy. Now we kind of strayed away from that and just work on really chill little single-player things.

As far as my personality goes, I am a pretty nice guy, and I think that I have a good sense of humor. I'm always trying to find a way to make a joke out of something I hear, and I enjoy listening to comedians and the joking opinions they toss at our governments feet. Right now my two favorite comedians are Bill Hicks and George Carlin, but I do like other comedians as well. I'm pretty open minded, and I like to hear new ideas and learn new things. I don't verbally criticize the way other people choose to live, although I do feel that humanity could use more kindness and have a generally giving and generous outlook.

I have always been a pretty shy person, most people would describe me as reclusive and a bit of an introvert. Don't know what it is about me, I just really enjoy my alone time, and I get annoyed easily by people when they put me in stressful situations. The world has a lot of unnecessary drama, and this might be my coping mechanism, or it might just be who I am on some deeper level. I work forty hours a week at a grocery store near my house, and I don't dislike the job, nor do I adore every aspect of it. I think that's the consensus with most careers though.

Anyhow, thanks for taking the time out of your busy lives to read this. It means a lot to me, and I hope you will consider me for the limbo portion of the server. I would like to learn some more about you guys as well, so leave your comments and I will respond accordingly.
