IGN: Matriplex

Real Name: Connor

Age: 16

Previous Minecraft Experience: Well, I've been playing this game for quite some time now. I don't remember exactly how long, but I do remember my friend being excited about the 1.8 (beta) update, therefore it was probably somewhere around that time period.

I consider myself decent at redstone contraptions, nothing very large, but smaller things such as neat doors and farms. However I generally use redstone in creative instead of survival, playing around with different computer pieces like displays and other units.

However, building is the thing I excel at in this game. There's not much more to say on that subject, other than I build small, detailed steampunk/rustic houses (cliche, I know).

Reasons: As most of you know, the general Minecraft community is split up just about like this: 90% little kids that are well... kids, 1% creepy old guys searching for said kids, and the other 9% are the people that mature players would actually want to play with. I think you know where I'm coming from now. Anyways, this seemed like a really interesting and unique server, made up of mature players.

Background: I enjoy programming above anything else. Whether it's Java, Lua, web development, or C++, I love it. Around the age of 11 I started getting interested in how computers worked, and more importantly, how could I work them to do what I want. Interestingly enough, this started because of Minecraft; I found a mod called ComputerCraft, which allows you to embed Lua scripts into the game to interact with the game world. After that, the whole adventure started. I couldn't get enough of all the different languages out there.

After about 2 years of programming I had become majorly proficient in Java (which Minecraft is actually written in, for those that don't know. Fun fact of the day.), and I started looking into game development. Since then I've learned a myriad of game development related techniques. I am currently working on developing my 3D game engine, using the Java OpenGL binding LWJGL.

As for my family, I live with my father, mother, and a younger brother, in America. We generally get along well, however we're a family and we have our squabbles from time to time. I used to play lacrosse for my school team, until I decided to quit because it was taking time away from learning more about software development (I am aiming to go into some IT job after college) as well as family time. Also, I play a couple instruments: guitar and violin. I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now and violin for around 8 or 9.

So that's a little bit about me but if you have any questions I'm an open book! I haven't anything to hide, so ask away.
