Connection issues after installing 1.6.6

03 June 2011 - 08:58 AM

I installed 1.6.6 and now I can't log onto the server. I removed the .minecraft folder and reinstalled Minecraft but I still get the same error message when trying to log onto the server. This is the error message:

Connection Lost

Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

I'll try out 1.6.6 in SP until hopefully someone can give me a hint as to how to log on again. :)

This is my first home. It was rebuilt five times for various reasons, but will stay put now. I still need to tweak it a bit on the inside and do quite a bit of work on the area outside. I lost a bit of interest in it after I started planning/building my tower, but I will get back to it soon because I want it finished.

This is just inside the entrance with a living room area.

Here you can see the dining room on the left and a kitchen in the back area.

This is the upstairs bedroom.

A little patio on the back of the house with a barbecue of sorts.

This is a barn where the livestock can get out of the rain. Also needs a bit more work, I may even move it and the grass field to a different area.

Aerial shot of my farm area.

Of course it started raining just as I wanted to take a couple of screenshots of my tower. It rained the whole day...and then the whole night...so this rainy/snowy screenshot will have to do.

This is the ground floor with a stairwell in the middle.

This is what you see when you look up the inside of the tower. I really like this view.

At the top of the stairwell you'll find my bedroom.

If you go up further you come to a kitchen and storage area.

And then if you go up even further you'll find the top of the tower. There's a big fireplace in the middle and a living room area on this side.

On the other side there's a library.

And in the back there's sort of a bar area.

And that's it for now. I'll add a list of planned projects later.

Question about some Mods

01 May 2011 - 02:38 AM

While the server was being updated I decided to try out Zombe's Mod Pack in SP. I used it mostly for Classic Building so I could quickly build and break down stuff to try out new things. Some of the mods in the pack are also useable in MP but I'm pretty sure they would be considered cheats and I wouldn't want to use them in MP even if they aren't.

So now I'm wondering, do I need to uninstall these before logging onto the server again? Or is it enough to just disable them? Assuming I have to uninstall these is there then an easy way to have multiple installs of Minecraft?

Thanks,
ConBas

Greetings all!

Hey SixtyGiggers,

Thanks for inviting me to join. I look forward to seeing you and your creations in the game. I'm very new to minecraft myself so I'm still learning how to build stuff. So there probably won't be anything spectacular from me anytime soon but I'll give it my best shot. Feel free to wander on by for a porkchop or two. :)

ConBas would love to join SixtyGig!

Hello SixtyGig members,

I'm known as ConBas, 30 years old and living in the Netherlands. I work in Customer Service from the home which allows me to do what I love to do most (even while I work :)), which is gaming.

I'm a relative noob when it comes to Minecraft. I'd heard plenty about Minecraft so a couple of weeks ago finally decided to try out the demo and then soon after bought it. It's such a fun little gem of a game!

I've only been playing SSP while getting to know the game but now it's time for me to hopefully join a community. SSP has been fun and I'll continue to play and build there on occasion but I really miss being able to share the experience with others so now I'm looking to join a community. I wasn't able to find any on minecraftforum.net where I thought I would fit in until I did a google search for a mature minecraft server. The first one that came up was SixtyGig and after having read about you guys I won't be looking anywhere else unless and until I'm denied membership here.

I like the fact that this is a small and mature community, that the rules are simple and clear and that everyone has their own plot to build on (though I'd certainly love to join a communal project as well). Basically SixtyGig is the poster boy of servers that I'm looking for so I really hope there will be room for me and that I will make the cut.

One thing I do want to mention (actually I don't but I feel like I should) is that I'm not a great builder, at least not yet. I don't think I'm a bad builder either, I just haven't had the game long enough (two weeks) to try my hand at anything big and/or spectacular. I'll likely keep my constructions small at first and then hopefully work my way to some bigger projects.

Well that's it for now. Here's hoping I make the cut!

Thanks,
ConBas
