Very good questions!! I can't wait to hear what people have to say, as I sadly have no idea why people do those types of things!

Not sure if my "two cents" will even be worth that much, but I figured I'd share with you all what my thoughts are.
Since I'm still fairly new to this server, and consequently haven't finished a major build yet (although am currently working on two!), I really wouldn't mind a map reset. I would VERY MUCH like to at least be able to tear down my mats and take them with me, but if that's not possible, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. That being said, when I actually looked at the photos from the snapshot of the new biomes/landmarks we have to look forward to...I didn't actually find them exciting. At all. They looked like minecraft, nothing else.
I like change. I don't mind rebuildling. But again, I would VERY MUCH like to at least be able to take all of my time-invested-and-mined-out mats with me. I'm not even talking about diamonds here - those are easy enough to get (imo). I'm talking about the obsidian and the brick and the other "building materials" that take forever to stock up on. Especially when you need two double-chest-fulls (or more!) of each for whatever it is you're trying to build. And while I am personally fine with a map reset at this point, I know that we are people here, and so naturally we all do not feel the same way about anything, and some people (like my husband, lol) hate map resets. I'm willing to do whatever works for everybody.
And finally, a response to Nek. I didn't find anything you said at the start of this conversation offensive at all. I could tell that you were poking fun. I'm sure I've razzed you and others on this server in a similar manner. But then I read this:
But at the same time i also understand that the written word can be interpreted in many ways, but i don't need to take the "high road" and worry about being politically correct at every other sentence, the world is so screwed up from the "oh i may offend someone" mentality that everyone takes everything so serious, and out of context. Maybe some may see that as disrespectful, it's not and apologizing for unintended results is not going to make a difference. I like simon, i always have, but if he so desires to take a bias opinion as a complete insult and throw a tantrum then that is his prerogative. I can not stop that.
Like me or not, i am who i am, and i am not going to take baby steps my entire life to ensure everyone else is never put into an uncomfortable situation or takes offense to a joke, bad or not.
I know what you're trying to say, but I completely disagree that "apologizing for unintended results is not going to make a difference." I rather believe the opposite. We are all people. We all have different experiences, friendships, opinions, and perspectives on things. Maybe if simon could see the smile on your face he wouldn't have been offended. Maybe, even if he had seen your smile, he still might've been offended. We all have different senses of humor. Yes, you shouldn't have to walk on egg shells. You should be able to joke around with people. I certainly back this freedom of expression. BUT the difference is, if you do find that you have offended someone, apologizing for it (even if you think it's ridiculous) is the right thing to do. You and others in this thread have taken the time to explain that it is the COMMUNITY, not the materials, that matter in the world of minecraft. That it is the "we" and "us" that are more important than the personal stocks of diamonds or even builds that took months and months to build (although, I still wouldn't want to see anybody have to give that up). The same goes for our words versus how they affect people. It is the relationships we have with one another that supercede whether we ought to be able to say what we want to say and never have to apologize for it. I hope I am explaining this right. I like your sense of humor; I find it funny. But I find your callous dismissal of others' feelings toward what you say is an indicator that you value you and yours more than you value the we and us. Again, I'm not saying "don't joke around." I'm not saying "don't be you." I'm just saying that, caring about how others receive your words is important too.
